
Stress is the #1 cause of death. It is a proxy killer and a silent killer. It is responsible for many illnesses and diseases that many people suffer and struggle with. Stress affects your body and your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
What stress does to the body?
When you feel stressed, the fight or flight responses are activated. Your brain is telling your body that it’s threatened, and you need to either fight it off or run from it. During this time your body will experience an increased heart rate, shallow breathing, butterflies or knots in the stomach, or sweaty palms. You might also sweat excessively or begin trembling in the hands, arms, legs or the entire body trembles.
Stress activates your hormonal, metabolic, immune and cardiovascular systems. If these responses are triggered to frequently your body will fail to return back to its normal pre-stressed state which will lead to health issues down the road.
How Stress Affects the Body
High levels of stress can cause muscles tension, aches and pains in the body, stomach and digestive issues, sleep issues, cardiovascular issues, reproductive issues, respiratory issues.
Stress when left unmanaged can develop into depression, anxiety, anger. It can cause strokes, heart attacks, diabetes, high blood pressure, and death.
When we learn how to manage our stress, we can reduce the effects of stress on our body. By overcoming stress we can restore the body and increase our physical, mental and emotional well-being.
