When was the last time you spent a quiet moment just doing nothing- just sitting and looking at the sea, or watching the wind blowing the tree limbs, or waves rippling on a pond, a flickering candle, or children playing in the park?
-Ralph Marston
Often times we are so busy running around, always doing, always busy with the problems and hassles of daily life and living like the energizer bunny; that we forget to slow down and experience moments of relaxation and quietness.
We need to slow down and catch a breath, we need to slow down and enjoy living life as human beings. Always working and being busy adds extra stress to our life and we miss the most important moments.
Many times we realize too late that we should have spent more time with family or friends, or we should have spent more time doing things we enjoyed. Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve but didn’t, why is that?
This quote by Ralph Marston is a question, asking us to take a good look at our life. If we are honest with ourselves the answer to that question would be met with silence. We often see quiet moments as time wasted because we weren’t being productive. Well relaxing and enjoying the quietness of life is productive because you are re-energizing yourself, reflecting on things that are important to you and you are resting.
Everyday I try to spend time doing something I enjoy. Going to bed knowing that the entire day was spent doing something I didn’t want to do, drives me crazy. What if I didn’t wake up in the morning?
Let’s make a commitment to slow down and do more of the things that makes life more enjoyable. We should all strive to experience moments of relaxation.
